GROVES — Mother of three Bevin Frakes doesn’t feel she’s doing anything any other mother wouldn’t do for her kids.
Her modesty was apparent as she listened to her grandmother Kathie Deasy speak of her accomplishments while the family was gathered at the Groves Chamber of Commerce on Friday morning. The gathering was for celebration — Frakes was just named the Groves Mother of the Year.
Deasy choked up as she held the letter she penned and began to read aloud, calling Frakes amazing, creative, spiritual and compassionate with a heart of gold for God, her family and country.
Frakes and husband Brandon have three children ages 8, 6, and 1.
“They’re parenting these precious ones together in a peaceful, fun home filled with games, Bibles, pets, books on every subject and always teaching them in their chores and meals together to be helpful and generous,” Deasy said. “Mommy Bevin helps motivate them for school, and teaches respect for their teachers and all authority including their elders, grandmas and grandpas.”
Frakes said when she learned from her grandmother that she had won, she cried and cried.
“It was precious and unexpected,” Frakes said, “But every mom is mother of the year. Any mom can do what I do. I appreciate this. It’s a blessing.”
