BASEBALL: Morse coming home as Cardinal

Published 6:03 pm Saturday, May 11, 2019

Former 5A state tournament MVP Brandon Morse will return to Jefferson County as a Lamar Cardinal.

Morse announced Friday his intent to play baseball next season at Lamar after two seasons at Paris Junior College. Morse led Port Neches-Groves to the 5A state championship two years ago and threw 20 strikeouts in eight appearances (16 innings) with a save, but he went 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA.

“I am coming home!” Morse posted on Twitter. I am extremely blessed and excited to say that I will be continuing my baseball career at Lamar University! Huge thank you to PJC and everyone who helped me on the road to recovery! Can’t wait to be a Cardinal!”

Lamar has not confirmed Morse’s commitment. Morse’s brother Adam is a former Cardinals quarterback and transferred to Henderson State University in southwest Arkansas this past semester.
