SOFTBALL: SP-Shiner series stopped; Sharks done

Published 5:05 pm Saturday, May 4, 2019

Sabine Pass’ 2A area-round softball series against Shiner has turned into a one-game affair, and the Sharks are done for the season.

Heavy flooding in Tomball on Friday forced the cancelation of Game 2 at Tomball Memorial High School. Sabine Pass athletic director Jason Thibodeaux said the Sabine Pass team was in Anahuac when it learned of the cancelation and was forced to turn around and head back to Port Arthur. Game 3 was scheduled for Saturday, had the Sharks won Game 2.

Because of the stoppage, Shiner advances to the Region II quarterfinal round by virtue of a 13-1 win on Thursday. Shiner will play Thorndale, which defeated Deweyville in two games.
