Pedestrian killed on SH 62 Friday
A pedestrian died Friday night when she stepped into the path of a vehicle on State Highway 62 in Orange County.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. just north of FM 105.
Initial reports said a GMC pickup truck was traveling northbound on SH 62 when a pedestrian who was standing in the turn lane walked into the path of the pickup. The driver of the GMC was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian, State Troopers said.
The pedestrian was identified as Cindy Williams 56, of Orange. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital but did not survive her injuries, Troopers said.
The driver of the GMC pickup truck, Savanah Robbins, 24, of Buna, and her three passengers were not injured.
