PORT NECHES — The Neches River Wheelhouse has a lot to celebrate — the eatery turned five years old recently, and now they will be featured on the TV show “The Texas Bucket List.”
The eatery, located at 720 Lee St. in Port Neches, offers scenic views of the river, but it’s their Cajun grilled cheese that helped the Wheelhouse claim the title of “The Texas Bucket List Bite of the Week,” according to a press release from the show.
Lance Bradley, Bert Lamson and Robbie Muse opened the Neches River Wheelhouse in 2014 after the three friends got tired of ordering an extra beer during happy hour. They would meet up at a joint that sold a bucket of five beers. Unable to split it evenly, they dreamed of a place that would have a bucket of six beers, and from that idea the Wheelhouse was born, according to the press release.
The owners said they are honored “The Texas Bucket List” visited the Wheelhouse and appreciate all of the support the community has given them the five years they have been in business.
Locals can watch the show as host Shane McAuliffe stops by to “experience a Cajun double decker twist on a timeless classic.”
The Neches River Wheelhouse will be featured alongside two other stops—Save the World Brewing Co. in Marble Falls and the Pecos Rodeo in Pecos.
