PGA TOUR: Stroud cut from Wells Fargo

Not much went right for Chris Stroud in the second round of the Wells Fargo Championship Friday as the Port Neches-Groves ex made an early exit after a
5-over-par 76 that left him with a 36-hole total of 149.
Needing to shoot a 70 to make the 36-hole cut, Stroud took bogeys on two of his first four holes and saw his slim chance go down the drain with a double bogey on his 12th hole of the day. He wound up making the double, four bogeys and two birdies.
Jason Dufner found the Quail Hollow layout in Charlotte to his liking, firing an eight-under-par 63 to take a one-shot lead at 131. Lamar ex Shawn Stefani also had a good day, roaring back from an opening 76 with a 65.
Stroud once again struggled with his driver, hitting only 4 of 14 fairways. He ranked well down in most key stats, finishing T107 in scrambling, 133 in strokes gained putting, 105 in sand saves and 128 in greens in regulation.
The missed cut was Stroud’s third straight in an individual event and fifth in his last seven starts. He will try to get back on track next week at the Byron Nelson Classic in Dallas.
