WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Lamar expected to named head coach Wednesday

Published 4:05 pm Tuesday, April 30, 2019

A Wednesday morning news conference is expected to reveal the next women’s basketball head coach at Lamar, which would end an 11-day search.

A Lamar spokesman declined to comment when asked who is the new hire.

The program has been without a head coach since Robin Harmony departed April 19 for the same position at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Harmony led Lamar to three straight 20-win seasons, including a 24-7 mark and third Southland Conference regular-season title under her watch this campaign. Lamar lost in the first round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament to South Alabama.

Associate head coach Randy Schneider left Lamar to join Harmony’s staff.

The conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Montagne Center’s Cardinal Club room.
