Port Neches man injured in wreck
A Port Neches man was injured Sunday night when he lost control of his vehicle and rolled over on Interstate 10.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the wreck occurred around 7:45 near FM 1442.
State Troopers reported that a Toyota passenger vehicle driven by David Nelson, 43, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 when for an unknown reason the driver lost control and traveled off the road.
In an attempt to get the vehicle back onto the roadway, the driver over-corrected, causing the vehicle to roll over several times before coming to rest. After impact, the vehicle caught fire.
Nelson was extricated from the vehicle and transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Eastbound traffic lanes were closed, but reopened to traffic about an hour later.
