Four Lamar women’s golfers earned All-Southland Conference honors, the conference announced Thursday.

Carson Racich was named newcomer of the year and honorable mention All-Southland. The sophomore averaged a round of 78.35, turning in a 72 twice (at the Bearkat Invitational in the fall and the final round of the Southland tournament). She shot par or better twice.

“Carson is a great pick for Newcomer of the Year,” Lamar coach Jessica Steward said in a release. “She started out the season well and also ended strong for us. She is a very coachable player and I’m excited to see what she can accomplish in the future.”

Senior Elodie Chapelet was named first-team All-Southland, while junior Eva Martinez and freshman Laura Pasalodos-Barcelo also made honorable mention.

“To be the only program with three returning players recognized is a great testament to the future of our golf program,” Steward said. “We have a lot of talent returning, and combined with our recent signees, I’m really excited about the future of LU women’s golf.”
