Early voting opens Monday in PA

Early voting started Monday in the city of Port Arthur for the May 4 General/Joint Election.

The city of Port Arthur on Monday offered its general notice that it would hold a general/joint election with the Port of Port Arthur Navigation District and Sabine Pass Port Authority from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 4.

Early voting in person will be held through April 30 at City Hall, 444 Fourth St., and Port Arthur Library, 4615 Ninth Ave. Hours are 8-5.

Early voting hours in person will be extended from 7-7 at City Hall on April 25 and April 30.

Applications for mail ballots must be received by 5 p.m. Tuesday at the city secretary’s office, 444 Fourth St. Or call the city secretary’s office by 5 p.m. Tuesday at 409-983-8115.

In Port Arthur, the May 4 election for the Port Arthur Independent School District for school board was canceled. Elected as trustees without opposition were Robert Reid and Donald R. Frank Sr.

In Sabine Pass, the May 4 election for the Sabine Pass ISD also was canceled. Elected without opposition were Ethan Blood and Jennifer Blood.

The city released the following polling places Monday for the May 4 election:

  • L. Eldridge Community Center, 5262 S. Gulfway Drive, Sabine Pass.
  • Memorial Ninth Grade Academy, 2441 61st
  • Tyrrell Elementary, 4401 Ferndale.
  • Port Arthur Public Library, 4615 Ninth Ave.
  • Port Arthur City Hall, 444 Fourth St.
  • Abraham Lincoln Middle School, 1023 Abe Lincoln.
  • Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 2200 Jefferson Drive.
