PORT NECHES — This year’s Fifth Annual RiverFest Art & Photo Contest is dedicated to the memory of Nan Gregg and Zuetta Pinkston and her husband, Pinky Pinkston.
Gregg was assistant to Chamber President Debbie Plaia. She was a longtime resident and volunteer for the Chamber for over 10 years. She was also very active with the coordination of the Annual Art & Photo Contest. She died in 2018.
Civic leader Zuetta Pinkston and her husband, Pinky Pinkston, are also being honored this fifth year. Zuetta Pinkston was an avid stamp collector and artist. She was past regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution and active in civic projects in the city of Port Neches, including fundraising for Port Neches Park’s Tugboat Island. Her husband, Pinky, loved the Port Neches car show and his antique car. They both died in 2018.
Triangle Photo Group has been the sponsor of the RiverFest Art & Photo Contest for the past five years. The contest is a national contest with regular participants from as far away as Gulf Shores, Alabama, Bennett, Iowa and Kerrville. Several local winners have also participated in the Lone Star Art Guild.
New Categories and prizes have been added to include “Birds.” The Triangle Birding Group sponsors this category and awards a $20 cash prize to the top winner in art and photography entries.
Spring migration of birds begins in April and this contest helps to highlight the beautiful birds in our local area. There is also a $25 cash prize to the “Best of Show” winner.
The annual contest will be held on May 4 at the Effie & Wilton Hebert Public Library. For more information, email to trianglephotogroup@gmail.com or pick up registration at the Port Neches Chamber office or the Hebert Library.
