PGA TOUR: Landry closes Heritage with 68

Andrew Landry turned a birdie-birdie start into a closing round of three-under-par 68 Sunday at Harbour Town Golf Links to move up 11 places into a tie for 33rd at the RBC Heritage Classic.

Landry, who had started the day even par after 54 holes, finished the tournament at 281 and pocketed $36,455. The three-under-par total was the same as the Port Neches-Groves ex posted a year ago when he tied for 42nd.

C.T. Pan fashioned a closing 67 to win by one stroke over Matt Kuchar after third-round leader Dustin Johnson collapsed. Johnson, who played a five-hole stretch on the back nine 7-over, shot 77 and tumbled all the way to 27th.

Landry opened by sinking a birdie from 13 feet, 8 inches on the first hole, then followed that with another birdie from 4-5 on the par-5 second. He got it to three under with a 3-footer on the par-5 fifth, then made his fourth birdie from 15 feet on the par-3 seventh.

Unfortunately, that was the end of the birdies. After making the turn in 32, he made eight pars and a lone bogey at No. 11. He kept his round going by sinking a 16-foot par putt on nine and an 11 footer at 16.

One eye-opening stat for Landry, who is not considered a big hitter, was a 363-yard drive on the par 5, 15th. It was the tournament’s long drive of the week. He was no able to turn the blast into a birdie or better, however, because of trees blocking his second shot.
