Saginaw woman sentenced for theft of nearly $1 million from Jewish Federation, spent large amount on QVC

FORT WORTH — A Saginaw, Texas woman accused of stealing nearly $1 million from the Jewish Foundation and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Home Shopping Network and QVC, has been sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay restitution.
Laurie Ann Reese, 64, was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison by District Judge Terry R. Means on Tuesday. Reese was also ordered to pay $992,854.02 in restitution. She pleaded guilty to bank fraud on July 18, 2018.
According to information presented in court, between Jan. 6, 2013 and April 19, 2018, Reese, while controller for the Jewish Federation of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, devised and executed a scheme to make about 326 checks payable to herself from the JFFWTC bank accounts. She hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Home Shopping Network and QVC.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Eastern District of Texas Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher A. Eason, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
