Suspect sought in convenience store robbery

Jefferson County investigators Tuesday were seeking a lone gunman in the aggravated robbery of a Texas 73 convenience store.

In an issued statement, the Sheriff’s Office said the suspect entered the Hamshire Quick Mart, 24061 Texas 73 at Englin Road at 3:19 p.m. Monday.

The suspect was described as a masked, white male wearing a light gray hoodie with a black zipper, a dark camo lower face covering, gloves, dark pants and black shoes. The suspect robbed the clerk at gunpoint with a semiautomatic handgun, police said.

The suspect exited the store and walked to a white Hyundai car parked across Texas 73, then fled the scene, followed by a citizen. The suspect vehicle is an unknown year model white Hyuandai missing the back bumper. It had a Lime green “I love Philpott” paper tag on the rear of the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office said the suspect vehicle was last seen traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Interstate 10 in Chambers County.
