Getting the ball rolling: Nederland Heritage Festival opens today

NEDERLAND — Workers spent Monday setting up rides and booths for the Nederland Heritage Festival, which opens Tuesday.
The carnival will open at 4 p.m. and close at 11 p.m. Armbands cost $25 for opening day. Other armband days will be sold Thursday and Sunday.
Those wishing to participate in the $500 treasure hunt can look for clues posted at the Nederland Police department. The petting zoo located on the midway next to the French Museum will be open from 4-8 p.m.
The “NHF’s Famous Cuisine Walk” will be from 4-11 p.m. and Thick as Thieves will perform on the Philpott Ford Stage from 7-10 p.m.
Fellowship Baptist Church will host guest services from 4-7 p.m., with Hillcrest Baptist Church taking over from 7-11 p.m.
Wednesday
Carnival hours will be from 4-11 p.m. with Pop Gun taking the Philpott Ford Stage from 7-10 p.m.
The petting zoo will open from 4-8 p.m. and the Cuisine Walk will open from 4-11 p.m.
Mary Kay Beauty consultant Sara Stewart will host guest services from 4-7 p.m. and James Carpenter Agency will take over from 7-11 p.m. Guest services will be located in front of the NHF Pavilion at the end of the Cuisine Walk.
