GOLF: Southland honors Chapelet golfer of month

Lamar golfer Elodie Chapelet was named the Southland Conference women’s golfer of the month for February.
The Frenchwoman averaged 71.6 per round through six rounds in the month and has eight rounds at or below part this season.
Chapelet tied for 13th place at the Texas State Invite, shooting rounds of 70, 73 and 75. She carded her career-low 67 at the Grand Canyon University Invite, where she finished second with a 54-hole score of 212, her lowest this season.
The sports information director from each school nominates a player for the award, but one cannot vote for a player from his or her school.
