While raising awareness of breast cancer, Lamar went pink and reached a milestone in its home winning streak for women’s basketball.

Four players scored in double figures as the home Cardinals dominated the Incarnate Word Cardinals 79-53 Wednesday at the Montagne Center in Beaumont. Lamar, donning trims of pink on its white uniforms, has won 40 straight games in the facility.

Senior guard Chastadie Barrs is approaching a national record after swiping eight steals Wednesday. She has 608 for her career, 17 away from the NCAA Division I mark, and finished Wednesday’s game with 16 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.

Miya Crump and Moe Kinard each scored 15 points and had two steals. Kinard totaled seven rebounds.

Jadyn Pimentel had 13 points and six rebounds for Lamar (20-5, 13-1 Southland).

The game was hardly in doubt for the defending Southland Conference regular-season champion Cards, who led 24-12 through one period and 43-25 at halftime. The home Cards shot 32 for 80 (40 percent) form the floor, including 10 for 43 from three-point range, but struggled in free throws, making just 5 of 10.

Incarnate Word (3-21, 3-10), led by Olivia Noah’s 12 points and Macy Ray’s nine, made 17 of 49 from the floor (34.7), including 8 of 25 from three-point range, and hit 11 of 14 free throws.

Lamar will visit Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a 1 p.m. tipoff Saturday.
