Staff report
Beaumont police early Sunday were investigating multiple crime scenes, including one in which a Port Arthur man was shot, but were slowed by a lack of witness cooperation.
Police said in an issued statement that they responded to a shooting at the Safari Club at 304 Orleans at 12:28 a.m. They also responded to a shooting in the 500 block and at 300 Crockett Street, where a Port Arthur man, 24, had been shot in the abdomen.
The shooting victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital with a single gunshot wound. He was listed in stable but critical condition.
Two vehicles were also hit by gunfire.
“Witnesses have not cooperated with investigators and it is unknown if the victim will file charges,” police said. “This is a frustrating common occurrence detectives deal with when investigating crimes.”
