Mail carrier attacked by 2 dogs in Port Arthur
A United States Postal Service mail carrier suffered serious but non-fatal injuries to her hand after two dogs attacked her on Thursday.
The mail carrier told officers that when she walked up to the home in the 3900 block of 27th Street she saw the dogs in the back yard. The dogs reportedly came around the side of the house and attacked her when she got to the front porch at about 3:22 p.m.
She emptied a can of pepper spray but it did not deter the dogs and she used her mailbag as protection.
A spokesperson with Port Arthur Police Department said the woman was being sent to surgery around 6 p.m.
The dogs were taken to Port Arthur Animal Control.
