Nederland Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of David Whittington Jr. for aggravated assault family violence. Bond is set a $50,000.

Nederland police Friday morning were searching for a suspect in a domestic shooting at a Detroit Avenue home.

Chief Gary Porter said in an issued statement that a woman, 35, was shot in the chest and in the head with a small-caliber weapon. The suspect is her estranged boyfriend, 48.

The identity of the victim was not released, but is expected to recover, Porter said.

Porter said police were called at 6:11 a.m. to the residence in the 1100 block of Detroit. The victim had been taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas by private vehicle, then transported by private ambulance to St. Elizabeth’s in Beaumont. She was in surgery at 8:25 a.m., when Porter issued his statement.
