Cyclist killed in Orange County collision

A bicyclist was killed when a truck left the main portion of the roadway in Orange County and collided with him.

In an issued statement, the Texas Department of Public Safety said Troopers responded to a 7 p.m. Wednesday call about a motor vehicle crash on FM 105, near West Circle Road, in Orange County.

Preliminary reports indicate a southbound truck drove off the main traveled portion of the roadway and collided with a northbound cyclist on FM 105, who was riding on the shoulder.

The bicyclist, Shannon Harrington, 31, of Vidor, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Rodney Price.

The driver, Kevin Lightfoot, 18, of Silsbee, was not injured.

DPS said this is an ongoing crash investigation as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this fatal crash.
