“(This experience) has been very exciting,” she said. “It has been very humbling. It’s meant everything to have the support of the community. It’s beautiful. It breaks boundaries of color. He doesn’t just have African Americans supporting him. He has all nationalities supporting him. I think God is using him to break the barriers of color.”

Nico said she is proud of her son and his coach, Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine.

“I like the songs (Levine) has chosen for him,” she said. “(DeAndre) has done very well so far.”

Johnna took time to go to each table and personally thank the people there for supporting DeAndre. After his
performance, Johnna encouraged people to go online to the The Voice app and vote. You can also stream Nico’s performance on Apple Music.

Nico dazzled the judges with his first performance of the season earning a four-chair turn, meaning all of the judges turned their chairs to select him as one of the singers they would like to coach.

Nico chose Levine as his coach and hasn’t looked back, making it to the final 11.
