Suspect fires shotgun in parking lot; several in crowd wounded

Staff report

A shooting in the parking lot outside of two wedding parties late Saturday left several people with minor injuries and investigators with few clues.

Beaumont police said they were called to 3355 Fannin because of a shooting report at 11:17 p.m. There, an off-duty law enforcement officer who’d worked security said the fight broke out in the parking lot, where a suspect, armed with a shotgun, shot at the people fighting. Several people in the crowd were struck and the gunman left.

No victims involved in the incident or witnesses wanted to cooperate with the investigation, police said in an issued statement.

Police said if witnesses have information, they should call Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas at 409-833-TIPS(8477).
