Suspect captured in late-night Beaumont robbery

Beaumont police arrested one suspect and were seeking another following a late-night robbery in the 4400 block of South Fifth Street.
Police said in an issued statement they answered a call at 11:10 p.m. While en route to the scene, they learned that two men robbed a victim at gunpoint and fled in the victim’s Hyundai passenger vehicle.
Police located the vehicle and gave chase. The suspects crashed the vehicle into a pole in the 2200 block of West Virginia, then tried to flee on foot.
In chasing one suspect, police said, they recovered a firearm he discarded, then captured the suspect. He was identified as Wilson Tyrie Toussaint, 20, of Beaumont. Authorities ID’d him as a convicted felon.
Toussaint was taken to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and booked on two charges of aggravated robbery, evading arrest and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. No bond was set.
The second suspect remained at large Thursday morning.
