Victim robbed, shot in Port Arthur

A man remained in stable condition Saturday after he was shot in the back Friday night in the 1500 block of Peek Avenue in Port Arthur.

Port Arthur police said they responded to a 9:31 p.m. call where an unknown number of suspects robbed the victim, then shot him.

In an issued statement, police said the victim initially got into an altercation with several suspects who were riding in a vehicle. The suspects left, but returned wearing masks and armed with a handgun.

Police said the suspects robbed the victim of money and property and then fired several shots at him when the left. One shot hit him in the back.

The victim was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont where he was treated for the gunshot wound.

He is currently in stable condition.

The Criminal Investigations Unit was investigating.
