MADISON, Wis. — With the venue living up to its frozen tundra reputation with snow and a high of just 29 degrees, Lamar’s Jamie Crowe and Jordan Rowe fought through unenviable conditions for the best finish by a Southland Conference runner since 2012 at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.

Crowe finished 75th in the race with a time of 30:26.4, the best finish and time by a Southland representative since 2012 when McNeese’s David Rooney took seventh with a time of 29:21.3. Crowe qualified for the NCAA Championships after becoming the first Cardinal runner ever to win the NCAA South Central Regional race last week with a time of 31:36.3, one of the best performances at the Texas A&M cross country course by any Southland runner in the last decade. Rowe joined Crowe at the Championship after finishing seventh at the NCAA regional race; he came in 134th on Saturday with a time of 30:57.5.
