Sunday’s scheduled Veterans Day “Picnic in the Park” has been postponed in Nederland.

City Manager Chris Duque said Friday afternoon that rain was in Sunday’s forecast and that substantial amounts of water were already in Doornbos Park, where the event was set.

“The city intends to host the event in the near future and is currently in the process of re-scheduling,” Duque said. “Notification of the rescheduled date will be provided to the public as soon as all facets are confirmed.”

He said “Honoring the brave men and women who served our nation is a priority for the city. We want to express our sincere appreciation for their service and sacrifices to our nation.”
