JUCO BASKETBALL: Chatman, Williams carry Seahawks past Bengals

Alex Williams came off the bench to shoot 4 for 4 from the floor, and he and Darion Chatman each scored 12 points in leading Lamar State College Port Arthur to a 70-62 win over LSU-Eunice on Tuesday in Eunice.

Williams and Chatman led the Seahawks, who saw 12 plays make the scoring column. Williams made 3 of 4 free throws.

Chatman, one of three freshmen from Port Arthur, had five assists and canned both of his three-point attempts.

Devin Ellis and Javante Walker each scored nine points, and Christavious Thomas had eight for the Seahawks (2-2), who were coming off an 0-2 trip in the Texas East-West Challenge in Lewisville. Lamar State lead 40-25 at the break and finished the game shooting 26 of 51 from the floor (51 percent), including 7 of 15 from three-point range, but shot only 11 for 24 in free throws (45.8 percent).

Fellow Port Arthurans Thailan Wesley scored three points and Jamyus Jones had two for the Seahawks, who will host the Houston Gladiators at 4 p.m. Saturday.
