Ronnie Boneau, executive director of the Groves Chamber of Commerce and Tourist Center, said there was a change up in the carnival group. Originally, Lowery Carnival was expected to return for their fourth year but was not available.

“We hope this carnival meets the expectations of the community that supports this festival,” Boneau said.

The last few days have been busy at the chamber office as children pack in to get their Mega Pass which allows for unlimited carnival rides.

Boneau is also optimist that the weather will be free of rain for the festival, which begins Thursday and runs through Sunday at Lions Park, 6200 Jackson Blvd., Groves.

As the sun set on Wednesday the carnival workers gathered for a meal provided by Friendship Baptist Church.
