Lawrence Lewis

Mr. Lawrence Lewis, 85 years old of Port Arthur, TX a native of Beaumont, TX, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday October 18, 2018 surrounded by his family.  He was a Veteran of the U.S. ARMY and later received his honorable discharge.

Lawrence had been a longtime member of St John’s Catholic Church.  He was employed by the Port Arthur Housing Authority for many years, he also worked for Lamar State College and had been retired for 20 years. After his retirement he worked for Gabriel Funeral Home for 17 years. 

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Friday October 26, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Arthur, TX. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until time of service with Father Anthony Afangide, MSP officiating. Burial will follow at the Live Oak Memorial Cemetery under the Direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.

He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife Jewell Lewis of 47 years, he leaves behind one son Wilbert Lewis of Houston TX, five daughters Vernice Bernard of Tyler TX, Cheryl Thompson, Angela Cooper (Eley, a very special and loving son in-law) all of Hurst TX, Gina Dickerson of Beaumont TX, Adria Lanes of Port Arthur, TX.  He is also survived by his dear sister Dorothy Lewis Collins of Beaumont, TX; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; brother in-law Simmie McDaniel and sister in-law Carol Lawrence both of California and friends.   He also leaves “Happi” his 4-legged friend.
