Joseph Avie Simien, Sr.

Joseph Avie Simien Sr. 79, has gone into eternal peace and joy on 17 October 2018. He was born 5 December 1938 in Opelousas, Louisiana, the son of Clarence Simien Sr. and Bertha Simien (Chachere). He was loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be remembered as a patient man with a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor.

Joseph worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Department of Sanitation at the City of Port Arthur and retired after 38 years of devoted service. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, fishing and lottery scratch-off tickets.

He was preceded in his death by his parents Clarence and Bertha Simien; brothers, Clarence, Neuben, Lee and Darris; sisters, Bonnie Simien and Ophelia Perrodin.

Left to cherish his memories are: wife of 57 years Jo Ann Clayton Simien; children Inez, Joseph, Dwight, Kenneth, La Bertha, Patricia, Clayton, Jo Ann and Ileana; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; bothers Patrick and Terry; sisters Jean Martin and Patricia Basden.

Family will receive extended family and friends for visitation and rosary Friday, 26 October 2018 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Hannah Funeral Home, 3727 Lewis Drive, Port Arthur, Texas 77642. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, 27 October 2018 at 9:00am at St. James Catholic Church, 3617 Gulfway Drive, Port Arthur, Texas 77642. Entombment will follow at The Oaks Mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
