Man, 56, shot to death at PA washateria

A 56-year-old man is dead after a shooting at an all-night washateria early Wednesday.

Police were dispatched at 1:47 a.m. to the washateria, 2925 25th St., which is near Memorial Boulevard and behind El Paisano Family Food store.

When police arrived, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the torso, according to a press release from the Port Arthur Police Department.

The man was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont but died. His name was not released as of Wednesday afternoon pending notification of next of kin.

The washateria is open 24 hours a day and does not have gaming machines.

The PAPD Crime Scene Unit was called and processed the scene.

The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.

This marks the 13th homicide of the year in the city.
