NCAA outdoor high jump champion Alexus Henry will be honored between the third and fourth quarters of Bridge City’s homecoming game against Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Friday.

Henry, a 2015 BC graduate who won the national championship in June, holds BC records in the 100 and 200 meters, triple and high jumps, the latter being 6 feet. She won two state championships in the high jump, holds the 4A state record in the event and ran on the 4×100-meter relay team that in 2015 broke a 35-year-old school record.

Henry also competed in volleyball and basketball for the Cardinals.

Now a UT Arlington senior, Henry holds the university’s records for the indoor and outdoor high jump, indoor pentathlon and outdoor heptathlon. Her 6-foot, 1.5-inch is a Sun Belt Conference record, and the conference has named her its most outstanding women’s field athlete.

Henry is the first female high jumper from UTA to compete in the NCAA championships.
