Kathryn Bruno Monk, 90, of Port Arthur passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at her home. Kathryn was born May 11, 1928 in Port Arthur, Texas to Sam Bruno and Mary Mondello Bruno. Kathryn was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Family was the most important thing to her. Kathryn was full of life and enjoyed living life to the fullest. She was active in the SERTOMA Club and Italian American Cultural Club. She enjoyed shopping and attending Mardi Gras events with her lavish costumes and huge hats. Kathryn was always all about the BLING.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mary Bruno; brothers, Nick Bruno, Roy Bruno and Joe Bruno; sisters, Mary Hebert, Rose Licatino and Sadie Harrington. She is survived by her son, Scott Monk; daughter, Madelyn Bearden and her husband, David; sisters, Lena Mallett and Angelina “Tootsie” Dartez. Kathryn also leaves behind grandchildren, Samantha Monk, Anthony Monk, Allen Bearden, Amber Bearden; great grandchildren, Giada Galfo, Evan Olvera, Emilee Olvera, Ryker Bearden and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews to cherish her memories.
A gathering of friends and family will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2018, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
