BAYTOWN — The Nederland Bulldogs led the Barbers Hill Eagles for only 1:28 of gameplay, but it was the late score that gave the Bulldogs a 27-21 victory at Eagles Stadium on Friday.

The highlight of the drive was a 37-yard pass from Blaysin Fernandez to Carson Arline that got the Bulldogs down to the Eagles’ 18. A few plays later Fernandez found Blayne Burnett in the end zone to make the score 14-13 with 46 seconds left in the first quarter.

The game changed when …

Three plays later, Scott bulldozed his way into the end zone to take the lead for the first time with 1:28 left in the game.

The Bulldogs defense came up big again after a tackle on the Nederland 42 stopped the Eagles inches short of the first down line on fourth down. The Bulldogs kneeled out the rest of the clock.
