Hamshire-Fannett trailed 28-7 but worked its way to double overtime before finally beating Shepherd 41-35 on the road Friday.

Hamshire-Fannett’s “Blue Wave” offense totaled 339 rushing and 46 passing yards in the win. Quarterback Marcus Morris rushed 26 times for 191 yards and three touchdowns and completed 4 of 10 for all 46 yards for the Longhorns (4-2).

Keshawn Morris came up with 30 yards on two receptions from Marcus Morris. He also rushed 11 times for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Anakin Hall scored as well and finished with 42 yards on five attempts.

The Longhorn defense made four fourth-down stops.

Hamshire-Fannett will begin District 10-4A Division II play next Friday at Hardin-Jefferson.

 

ORANGEFIELD 31, KIRBYVILLE 20

There is no place like home.

That was the case for the Orangefield Bobcats Friday night after being away from their home field since the last Friday in August.

The Bobcats were able to nab their first District 12-3A Division I victory of the season in front of a packed home crowd as they downed the Kirbyville Wildcats 31-20.

Orangefield (4-1, 1-1) piled up 323 yards of total offense, 277 of it coming on the ground on 51 carries.

Senior fullback Blake Bradley led the way with 128 yards on 23 carries. Kadeon Evans had 66 yards on nine carries and Gunner Jones, getting his first start of the season after senior Mason Gonzales was lost for the season after a knee injury, played really well, rushing for a score and passing for another.

Kirbyville (0-5, 0-2) quarterback Dylan Bishop completed 13 of 31 passes for 189 yards as the Wildcats finished with 285 yards. Receiver Tylon Cooper had six receptions for 65 yards and fellow receiver James Burchett had four grabs for 63 yards. Wildcat back Cam Smith rushed for 68 yards on 11 totes.

Orangefield took a 14-0 advantage into the locker room at the half as they converted a pair of big plays on offense and the Bobcats made key stops on defense.

 

JASPER 34, WEST ORANGE-STARK 24

The host Jasper Bulldogs muscled past the West Orange-Stark Mustangs 34-24 in non-district action Friday night at Bulldog Stadium behind a monstrous night by Jasper running back Montavien Hunt.

Hunt tore through the Mustang defense for 373 yards on 23 carries and four long touchdowns runs as Jasper (6-0) remains undefeated on the season.

The Bulldogs piled up 439 total yards of offense.

The Mustangs (2-4) grabbed 389 total yards of their own, 251 of it via the air as both teams moved the ball well.

Mustang quarterback Tyrone Wilson completed 10-of-20 passes for 251 yards. Jay’zn Robinson had six catches for 70 yards while Brettlin Wiley hauled in a catch that went for 82 yards. Senior tailback Kavyn Cooper had 86 yards and three TDs on 18 carries while Wilson had 46 yards on five totes.

Bulldog quarterback Colton Womack completed 2-of-4 passes for 62 yards.
