NFL: Seahawks’ Thomas likely done for regular season

West Orange-Stark graduate and Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas III’s season is likely done early for the second year in a row, and Thomas expressed his displeasure for all to see.

Thomas, 29, threw up a right-hand middle finger Sunday as he was being carted off the field with what NFL Network reported is a broken leg during the Seahawks’ 20-17 win at the Arizona Cardinals. The injury came 25 days after Thomas rejoined the Seahawks in time for the regular season after holding out during training camp in hopes of an extension on his four-year contract with a bigger paycheck.

Thomas did not get was he was looking for. This is the last of his four-year contract worth a reported $40 million.

Thomas was also injured last year with a broken leg and was seeking protection should another injury occur this season.

Without the extension, Thomas will become a free agent.
But he was enjoying a strong start to the season with three interceptions, two of them coming against the Dallas Cowboys.

Thomas graduated from West Orange-Stark in 2007 and played three seasons at the University of Texas before the Seahawks drafted him.
