A Beaumont man was arrested for murder early Sunday after police pulled up to the scene and witnessed him stabbing a woman.

Police said in an issued statement they responded to a disturbance call at 12:16 a.m. at 3155 French Road. There, they said they saw Davis Walters, 36, stabbing the victim in the parking lot.

The victim was later identified as Kiana Joubert, 23.

They said they captured Walters at the scene as he attempted to flee in a vehicle.

Beaumont EMS responded but pronounced the 23-year-old victim dead at the scene.

Walters was arrested for murder and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.

Bail was set at $1 million.
