A Deer Park man died early Thursday when his pick-up truck collided with the rear of a westbound commercial vehicle on Interstate 10.

The Department of Public Safety said in an issued statement that the two-vehicle wreck occurred around 4 a.m. near the Goodyear plant in Jefferson County.

Justice of the Peace Ray Chesson pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His family had not been notified by mid-morning.

DPS said westbound traffic would be halted to investigate. Expect delays.

Motorists were urged to find an alternate travel route. For motorists traveling from Beaumont or the Orange County area, US 90 was an alternative, DPS said.
