Through two matches, Port Neches-Groves has not lost a set.
The Indians are going at the same pace in District 21-5A as they did in last year 22-5A, when they gave up just one set, and have increased their winning streak in district play to 20 matches Friday with a 25-20, 25-21, 25-17 win over Dayton in Port Neches.
The triumph comes one match before PNG (24-4, 2-0) hosts the team it last dropped a district match to — archrival Nederland. The Bulldogs, who also took the only district set from PNG last year, beat the Rock-A-Noos in four sets on Oct. 12, 2016, in Port Neches.
Kaitlyn Gil had 16 kills, Liz Bolyard 12 and Maylin Louvier three for PNG. Bayja Newby scored two aces on five service points, Holly Jones had a team-high 13 service points and Harlee Barnwell earned an ace on eight service points. Barnwell finished with 17 assists and Jones totaled 14.
Newby had 11 digs, Kasidee Sartin 10 and Gil seven for PNG.

Karley McGill and Hannah Hickey each spiked 13 kills, helping to capitalize off Jenna Jarrett’s 40 assists. Destyn Miguez had 19 digs, and Meg Sheppard added 11 digs to 12 kills and two aces for the Bulldogs.
Sabine Pass 3, Burkeville 0
In Sabine Pass, Yainn Zuniga’s four aces confused Burkeville’s defense, and the Sharks (8-5, 1-2 in 24-2A) scored a 25-8, 25-10, 25-14 win over the Mustangs.
Anahi Gutierrez had eight digs in the win. Jamesia Jones struck up three aces and five kills, Nevaeh Jones totaled three kills, Jaizee Landry (five kills) and Brooklyn Dixon (three kills) each had two aces, and Joanna Smolsky scored four kills.
