Hamshire-Fannett’s “Blue Wave” offense crushed Kountze’s defense with 440 total yards, and Mark Waggoner earned his first win as the Longhorns’ head coach Friday in a 43-22 home win.

Marcus Morris was responsible for 307 of those yards. He completed 10 of 16 passes for 125 yards and rushed 15 times for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

Blaine Waggoner caught for 43 yards and Garrett Picou hauled in a 40-yard reception.

The Longhorns (1-1) held the Lions (0-2) to 284 total yards.

Hamshire-Fannett will visit East Chambers on Friday.

 

West Orange-Stark 47, LCM 0

LITTLE CYPRESS – Taking control early and never losing command, the West Orange-Stark Mustangs crushed the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Battlin’ Bears 47-0 to claim yet another Orange Bowl trophy Friday night at Battlin’ Bear Stadium.

The Mustangs (1-1) dominated the first half 34-0, led by the arm of quarterback Jerren Terrell, who completed 8-of-10 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns in the first 24 minutes.

WOS outgained the Bears (0-2) 323-40 in the half. Mustang standout tailback Kavyn Cooper, who did not play in the opener against Nederland due to an ankle injury, had 85 yards on 10 carries in the half while Mustang receiver Brettlin Wiley had two catches for 105 yards and a pair of scores. Quarterback Tyrone Wilson had two rushing TDs in the half as the Mustangs also took advantage of three Bear turnovers.

The Mustangs went on to finish with 518 total yards and 22 first downs. They had 270 yards rushing on 41 carries. Ja’Marcus Ross also ran well for the Mustangs, finishing with 98 yards on 10 carries. Terrell finished 9-of-11 for 196 yards.

The Bears, meanwhile, only mustered 78 total yards and six first downs against the Mustang defense.

Bear quarterback Ethan McCollum was limited to 1-of-6 for 10 yards passing while he was the team’s leading rusher with 22 yards on 16 carries. The Bears’ biggest gain of the night was their first play when receiver Darien Williams took and end-around for 15 yards.

 

Orangefield 41, Livingston 0

LIVINGSTON — There is no doubt that the Orangefield Bobcats have gotten off to a flying start this  season as they have outscored their first two opponents by a 102-0 count, including a 41-0 demolition of the Livingston Lions on the road Friday night.

This comes after a 61-0 blowout of Houston KIPP Generations Collegiate last week.

The Bobcats (2-0) controlled the game early against the Lions (0-2), who dropped a 68-7 decision to Shepherd in their opener.

Orangefield defensive back Clayson Choate got the Bobcats going on the right foot against the Lions when he picked off a pass and returned it 80 yards for  a touchdown with 9:07 remaining in the first quarter.
