The Jasper run game produced over 350 yards on the ground, with Mon Tavian Hunt accounting for over 200 yards alone.

Hunt just needed six carries to amount 220 yards all by himself, a major reason the Bulldogs (2-0) jumped out to a big lead quick over the Cardinals (0-2).

Bridge City entered Friday’s game versus Jasper with something to prove, after a disappointing loss to Diboll in week one of the season.

The young Cardinals are still looking for improvement as they look to produce some more points before district starts after scoring just 14 points the first two weeks after last week’s 42-7 loss at Diboll.

They will look to regroup when they get to play at home for the first time this season next week when Anahuac visits Ward Stadium.

Jasper finished with 439 total yards for the night while the Cardinals had 243.

The Bulldogs ended the first half up 45-0 in what was an offensive showcase.

The third quarter would be quiet as the Bulldogs don’t find points, but kept the Cardinals off the board as well as the score remained 45-0 at the end of the quarter.

Bridge City would finally score late into the fourth quarter, for the first time all night thanks to Trenton Legrout on the ground, producing 45 yards alone on the drive. After the PAT the Cardinals were still down 45-7 but avoided the shutout.

Fullback Andy Lara led the Cardinal offense with 83 yards on 16 carries. Legrout had 49 yards on four carries. Rylan Ply had 40 yards on five totes and Gavin Villanueva had 12 carries for 35 yards.
