Blake Mortera of Nederland got off to a fast start to the season and won the 5A individual boys title at the Bridge City Cardinal Classic on Saturday.

Barbers Hill also won the 5A girls team title. Silsbee in 4A-under boys and Lumberton in 4A-under girls also took titles, with Bridge City’s girls coming in second.

Maddison Helm of Orangefield won the 4A-under individual girls title, with Kaylen Smith coming in second and Katelynn Helm third.
