BASEBALL: Post Oak starts out with win over Rhode Islanders

Carter Pitts struck out six in 4 1/3 innings, and Justin Michaelis hammered three hits in leading Houston Post Oak to a 3-1 victory over Coventry, Rhode Island, on Thursday in a Little League World Series  game.

Pitts held the New England team to two hits. Ryan Selvaggi, who smashed a triple, also pitched the final 1 2/3 innings and struck out three.

Michaelis also had a double.

Despite the loss, Tommy Turner struck out seven Post Oak players and held the Southwest Region team to two earned runs on four hits.
