Coast medevacs man from fishing vess

CORPUS CHRISTI — The Coast Guard medevaced a 57 year-old-man from an 87-foot fishing vessel about 17 miles southeast of Port Aransas on Thursday afternoon.

Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders received a request for a medevac from the captain of the vessel Captain H.W. after a crewmember was reportedly suffering from abdominal pains. Watchstanders notified the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac.

An Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew arrived on scene, hoisted the crewmember and transported him to the airfield at Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi. Awaiting emergency medical services personnel received the man and transported him to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline.
