Coast Guard rescues 4 mariners off Texas Coast

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard rescued four mariners after their vessel capsized near Freeport on Sunday morning.

Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received notification from the owner of a 24-foot recreational vessel that he was taking on water about 10 miles southwest of Freeport.

A Station Freeport 45-foot Response Boat–Medium boat crew and an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew were launched.

The Station Freeport boat crew arrived on scene and safely transferred all four mariners to the RB-M. The 24-foot recreational vessel capsized at anchor shortly after.

The mariners were transported to the Bridge Bait boat ramp with no medical concerns.

The owner of the vessel will coordinate salvage.
