A father and son remained in critical condition following a house fire Thursday.

Francisco Zepeda, 60, and Daniel Zepeda, 28, were in the garage of the home in the 1100 block of Trinity Avenue when the fire broke out. Another resident was home at the time but was not injured, according to a news release from the Port Arthur Fire Department.

The fire call came at 1:52 p.m. and firefighters arrived three minutes later. The fire was primarily in the garage but was spreading inside the attic and to the inside of the home. They were able to stop the spread of the fire but the home received extensive smoke damage.

One patient is listed in extremely critical condition, the other is critical.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

A gofundme account has been set up to help with medical bills.
