Edward Taylor

Edward Taylor, 93, of Port Arthur, Texas completed his earthly journey on Friday, July 27, 2018 at home surrounded by his loved ones.  He was born November 7, 1924 in Elm Park, Louisiana to the late David, Sr. and Carrie Woods Taylor.  Edward was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur, Texas for 69 years.

Edward worked at Texaco, Inc. for 34 years and retired as a machinist in November 1984.

Edward was a member of Rock Island Baptist Church, where he was an ordained deacon and served as an usher and van driver for several years.  His civic and community affiliations included the Old Landmark Family Circle, the Dukes Social & Civic Club and 19th & 18th Street Neighborhood Floral Club.

Edward now joins those who preceded him in death, his parents, wife Mary Williams Taylor, two sisters, three brothers, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, one grandson and one great grandson-in-law.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory two sons, Charles Taylor (Belinda) of Beaumont, TX and Nathaniel Taylor (Monica) of Baytown, TX; four daughters, Shirley Taylor Mayes, Cynthia Taylor Gabriel and Ivy Taylor all of Missouri City, TX and Orita Renee Taylor Broussard (Kirk) of Port Arthur, TX; two sisters; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The Homegoing Celebration will be 2:00 pm Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Rock Island Baptist Church with visitation from 12:00 pm until service time.  Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
