Floyd Wayne Dergent

Floyd Wayne Dergent 49, was a native of Port Arthur, Texas.  He was born to Peter Floyd and Faye Dergent on July 2, 1969.  He was a proud graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School class of 1987.  Floyd loved his classmates dearly and they loved him.  On Wednesday, July 25, Floyd went home to be with the LORD.  He will truly be missed in the neighborhood.  He was affectionately known as the neighborhood “Handy Man”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Floyd and Faye Dergent; grandparents, Felix and Leona Dergent, Leon and Lubella Simon; one aunt, Annie Sue Simon and uncle, Joseph Simon, Sr.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories is:  one son, Jeremy Wayne Dergent of Houston, TX; one daughter, Nyia Echols of Port Arthur, TX; two aunts, Carolyn Evans of Port Arthur, TX and Phyllis Morris (William) of Washington, D.C.; six first cousins, Sherrel Williams and Wyndell Broussard both of Port Arthur, TX.; Terrence Morris of Washington, D.C., Shelly Morris of New York, NY and Joseph Simon, Jr., of Houston and Tongela Simon of Port Arthur; one special cousin, Sherry Fuselier of Dallas, TX; one special big brother, Brian Harrison; Floyd will be missed by a host of other relatives, classmates, and friends.

Services for Floyd will be Wednesday August 1, 2018 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Donald Ray Frank will be the Officiant.  Minister Reginald Scypion will be the Eulogist.

Visitation will begin at 9am until 11 am with the funeral service following.  Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Groves, TX,
