The development-league team for the Dallas Mavericks have invited former Nederland, Lamar State College Port Arthur and Lamar standout Colton Weisbrod to a workout Tuesday.

Weisbrod will go work out for the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ affiliate in what is now known as the G League, the Gatorade-sponsored minor-league team formerly known as the NBA Development League. It is the first opportunity since the NBA draft Weisbrod has gotten to make it on a professional team.

“This is something that I’ve been talking to YouTube for, my friends and family, something I’ve been talking to everybody about, hoping and praying and wishing for, and the fact that it’s finally happening and here is pretty exciting,” Weisbrod said on his YouTube channel. “It truly is.”
